Here are some of the top destinations in June and July if you’re thinking about taking a trip this summer. There’s something here for everyone, from a culinary staycation in England to basking in the midnight sun in Scandinavia.
Important Dates to Remember:
Travel costs in 2023 are projected to increase beginning on July 24 (the first day of most schools’ summer break) and continuing through the first week of September.
Curaçao
Best for: Quiet time in the Caribbean
Although many people avoid the Caribbean during the summer because of the risk of hurricanes, Curaçao is located outside the hurricane belt and has a pleasant, dry summer.
June and July are great months to visit the beautiful and culturally rich island of Curaçao because fewer tourists are there.
Curaçao is a kaleidoscope of colour, with its dazzling turquoise waters, extensive coral reefs, and pastel-painted historic Dutch structures. You may also find the typical Caribbean vegetation and white sand beaches on this island. Ideal for those in search of a respite from their hectic lives.
Scandinavia
Best for: Midnight Sun
Some people find the summers in the south of Europe unbearable, yet the Nordic countries are beautiful.
It hardly ever gets dark in June and July. Above the Arctic Circle, the sun never sets, providing long, bright evenings that are welcome during the region’s dark winters.
Traditional celebrations in Norway and Sweden centre on Midsummer Eve (24 June 2023) and include dancing around the midsummer pole.
The Midnight Sun Film Festival (14–18 June 2023), held in Sodankylä, Finland, takes use of the constant sunshine to screen films nonstop.
Peru
Best for: Adventure
Since the Amazon’s dry season begins in June, a trip to Peru in the summer is the best time to go.
The mountains are lush and verdant after the rainy season, making this the greatest time of year to explore Machu Picchu. The sun will be out but not too intense, and the air temperature will be comfortable for sightseeing.
Don’t forget to see Lima, Peru’s intriguing and chaotic capital. Three restaurants in the city made it onto the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, including two in the top ten, solidifying the city’s reputation as a top gastronomic destination.
Tennessee, USA
Best for: Music and Culture
Although the Fourth of July is a very busy and exciting time to visit the United States, it is also one of the most expensive.
Nashville, Tennessee, is home to one of the largest parties in the United States. In addition to the traditional Fourth of July fare of fireworks, hotdogs, and red, white, and blue decorations, the city also throws a massive festival complete with country music, kid-friendly activities, and delicious food.
The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival (15-18 June 2023) takes place in Tennessee and is aimed for a younger demographic.
Corsica
Best for: Sunshine
Sunlight on the Mediterranean island of Corsica is at its peak in the summer months of June and July.
This hilly French territory is ideal for those seeking both rest and adventure. If you’re in the mood for some physical activity, you can go hiking, bicycling, golfing, or even swimming.
Secluded rocky coves and quiet hillside settlements are perfect for those who like to unwind whilst on vacation. Corsica has the advantage of being less well-known than other islands in the Mediterranean, so it is quieter and more ‘off the beaten path’ than other well-known destinations.
England
Best for: Summer Food Festivals
It’s the perfect time to go around the United Kingdom because June and July are culinary festival months.
There’s a chance you’ll find an undiscovered gem or experience a previously unknown facet of a familiar place.
There are plenty of amazing culinary events to check out across the British Isles, such as the Pub in the Park celebration of food, drink and music, and the iconic Taste of London in Regents Park.
